Photo description:
RUTH BONNEVILLE / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS Hashtag Dress: Liz Neely combines her skills as an artist and a technology specialist to inspire museum visitors with her Hashtag dress. (made from fibre optic fabric) for the CMHRs upcoming exhibition Rights of Passage: Canada since 1867 (which opens Dec. 10). The exhibition focuses on events and conversations that shaped the way Canadians have thought about human rights in four distinct time periods since 1867. The exhibitions design and interactives (such as this dress) also encourage people to think about how communications media play a role in shaping those rights conversations. Neely puts the finishing touches on the dress at the CMHR which will illuminate different colours depending on the hashtag people use. See Jen's story. Nov 23, 2017
