Actors Christina Ricci and Josh Bowman walk to a shooting location on the Manitoba Legislative grounds Wednesday. Ricci is taking on the role of¤a heroic journalist Nellie Bly, in the TV movie that will air sometime in 2018. Bly, whose real name was Elizabeth Jane Cochran, was a pioneering undercover journalist and the film examines the chapter of her adventurous life in which she feigned madness to gain entry into a mental hospital in New York’s Roosevelt Island (known in 1887 as Blackwell’s Island). The cruelty and abuse she exposed there helped change the mental-health-care system. Directed by Karen Moncrieff, the¤TV movie production is scheduled to be here¤until Dec. 21. Dec. 20 2017
