MIKE DEAL / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS
Friday marks a very special day in 11-Year-Old Abigail Stewart’s life. Not only is she currently in remission from multi system langerhans cytosis (even though she is still dealing with the after-effects of chemotherapy), but she wants to take this negative experience by making it a positive one by becoming the 2018 Children’s Hospital Champion.
Over the next 12 months, Abigail will be an ambassador for the 120,000 kids and families helped by Children’s Hospital each year. She will share her story as she travels across Manitoba. In March, Abigail will travel to Ottawa to meet other Champions from across the country and then on to Disney World to celebrate not only her achievement but also to meet with International Media, to showcase what an amazing hospital and research institute we have here in Manitoba. She will be dedicating her year to raise money to support the unit that helped save her life.
