BORIS MINKEVICH / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS
From left, Retired U of M biologist Rick Riewe (orange) and partner Jill Oakes (yellow) are going on trip of a lifetime. Rick Riewe is a 76-year-old retired senior biologist with Parkinson's Disease. This summer, Riewe and his partner Jill Oakes, a researcher at the University of Manitoba, are cycling more than 6,000 kilometres through Canada and the United States. Their journey will include researching the barriers people with Parkinson's face when pursuing physical activities that many people take for granted. Famous bike builder Stephen Bilenky, not in Winnipeg today, has designed a bike especially for Rick. The one-of-a-kind ride is a recumbent bike with unique measurements, clip-in pedals and improved stability. Bilenky is meeting up with them in the US somewhere to give it to them. Photo taken in the Sobeys parking lot in Sage Creek. STANDUP PHOTO May 1, 2018
