Photo description:
MIKE DEAL / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS Several Reseda Luteola plants sit on a tray in the Buller Greenhouse. The plant at one point (from the first millennium BC until the early 20th century) was the most widely used source of the natural dye known as weld. In 2014 the new manager of the greenhouse, Dr. Carla Zelmer, decided that the Buller Greenhouse should be enjoyed by the wider U of M community. Up until then the greenhouse was only open to instructors and researchers of the Biological Sciences Department. Now the greenhouse is open to the public Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. until noon. 190118 - Friday, January 18, 2019.
