MIKE DEAL / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS After delivering its passenger the wheelchair heads back to the departure security area to recharge and pick up new passengers. The Japanese wheelchair company, WHILL (which recently acquired Winnipeg company, Scootaround) is testing an autonomous wheelchair service at the James Richardson International Airport. The wheelchair will take a passenger who would normally require up to two airport employees to escort them to their gate automatically and then it would return itself to the security check-in afterwards. 191212 - Thursday, December 12, 2019.
