Standup - New, Hello Sunshine mural in St James.

Artists Jen Mosienko, (in black) and Elan Beveridge work on finishing their mural on the west wall of 1854 Portage Ave. on Thursday morning.

Jen Mosienko was the mural artist who painted the ox carts mural in 1999 which said "Welcome to St. James Village" on it.

She said that projects like this could not be possible without the support and funding through the St James Biz, Take Pride Winnipeg and Herc Rentals. Also a special thanks to Vandenberg’s for allowing us to work on their newly landscaped frontage.

Quote from Jen Mosienko of Jen Mosienko Design, below.

"The original was my very first project, 21 years ago, so this was definitely a bit of a nostalgic project. I contacted the Biz in the spring and mentioned that I would love the opportunity to give the wall some new life. In light of past world events and the ongoing Pandemic, I really wanted to do something fun, Non political, Bright and positive for the community. Everything in the mural represents positivity, wholeness, prosperity and an sense of well being. So hence “Hello Sunshine” greeting individuals in “Sunny” St. James."

Note: A Submitted photo of the original ox cart mural that Jen painted is in merlin.
