JOHN WOODS / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS
Dr. Jonas Watson, right, and Dr. Tim Kraemer perform surgery in their clinic at Grant Park Animal Hospital (GPAH) Wednesday, October 21, 2020. The vets reconstructed the face of Zed. Zed is one of three dogs from a northern community who were attacked by a youth wielding a machete. He suffered pretty horrible injuries and was airlifted to Winnipeg by an animal rescue group -- the vets at GPAH reconstructed his entire nose in surgery yesterday. They're doing surgery on another dog victim tomorrow. The vets say this incident just highlights how much more support they need from the province to help deal with the conditions that leave animals vulnerable for such abuse.
