LOCAL - art class

Grade 12, Maples Collegiate student, Brody McQueen with wall art that he worked on with other students in art teacher. Stacey Abramson's class.

VIRUS ART CLASS: High schoolers are in-class less frequently this year. Classroom discussions are less lively with masks. Pandemic life has been stressful for all, and walking around schools, one of few constants from last year is student artwork hanging in the hallways. Art teachers say their classes have become havens for stressed students who can't express themselves with words like they used to. "What do we go to when we feel sad or lonely or bored? We go to art - whether it’s film or music or visual art," says one art teacher. Talking to two teachers, one student and a sociologist/psychologist about arts ed amid the pandemic.

Going to talk to Brody about his work this year, so would be great to snap some photos of Brody in the class, him with some of the moving projects he's done this year, and a profile of Stacey
