Sunday Special - Cantor's Meats & Groceries

Where: Cantor's Meats & Groceries, 1445 Logan Ave. owner Ed Cantor

Photo of meat counter staff, Michelle (left) and Emma packaging meat orders from customers,

What: This is for a two-page Sunday Special on Cantor's, approaching its 80th anniversary in biz; the grocery store continues to evolve, it partnered with Fresh Co. a couple of years ago - the meat dept. in some of the stores is run by Cantors - and they'll be entering a few more Fresh Co. locations this year.

Ed's grandfather started the biz in the early 1940s, after emigrating to Canada from Poland; he died young, a few years into the business, and his two son's, Ed's dad and uncle took over - both working there into until the day they died, literally.

Ed, 56, has no plans to retire - he's hoping to be welcoming customers at least until the store turns 100, in 2042.
