Portraits of Lynda Trono pastor, who said there are constant housing announcements but nothing ever seems to actually change on the streets of Winnipeg — if anything it keeps getting worse. She said she fears the city will have one of those streets lined with tents like you see in L.A. and American cities. This is for a piece that looks at the National Housing Strategy, four years into its existence. Winnipeg has projects like the Colony St. lofts near the WAG that wouldn't exist without the strategy, but non-profits say the program isn't helping their ability to provide housing for the working poor (it's subsidizing the construction of flats that cost $900, but folks in rooming houses can only afford $350-600).
