JOHN WOODS / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS
Robert Beattie, assistant professor of medical genetics, U of MB, and partner Maria Cristina Travaglio are photographed in their home in Winnipeg on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. Manitoba health coverage rules have the Canadian scientist paying for his foreign born wife’s medical care through health insurance ($200/month). Unlike Ontario, Manitoba will only cover people who are permanent residents, eventhough the province will give medical care to temporary workers, international students, and their spouses automatically.
