MIKAELA MACKENZIE / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS Ukrainian refugee Bohdan Cherevko (11) watches cartoons in their hotel room in Warsaw on Thursday, March 31, 2022. Bohdan and his mother fled Ukraine after being close enough to hear the Russian troops (and hiding in the cellar from the bombs), and are eagerly awaiting Canadian visas to join his father in Portage la Prairie. His mother says that the cartoons help distract him from the terrible memories. For Melissa story. Winnipeg Free Press 2022.
