Story: Ugo and Maria De Nardi were a young married couple in 1972, when they bought an existing grocery mart on Sargent Ave, despite having zero retail experience. That store grew thru the years, they ultimately added a wholesale component, Mondo Foods, which developed into a million-dollar business, all its own. They opened their present jewel of a spot, Piazza De Nardi on Taylor Avenue in the early 2000s, recreating an Italian villa shopping experience, long Maria's dream.
