Photo description:
MIKE DEAL / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS Vic Pankratz choral director sorts through damaged choral papers drying in a room at the school. A sprinkler in Westgate Mennonite Collegiate went off mistakenly last night and flooded several rooms, including the Music Room, Library and the atrium. Historic choral papers, from the very beginning of the school's history in 1958, have been destroyed. The music teachers are devastated - as are the administrators and families. The school prides itself on being a music powerhouse, with choir mandatory for all G6-9 students, and optional - although many students take it - in 10-12.
