MIKE DEAL / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS Ken MacDonald (centre) is a hornist with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. His husband Trevor Kirczenow (left) is a horse trainer and freelance violinist. Both are looking forward to playing "The Nutcracker" again with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet this Christmas. Many Manitoban children will already know their Ojibwe Horse, Asemaa'kwe, from her starring role in "The Spirit Horse Returns." This show about these critically-endangered horses was premiered by the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra earlier this season and will be performed with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra in April. Along with their children Matthew (right) and Piper (second from right), they are training Asemaa'kwe to pull a sleigh this year. See Holly Harris story 221215 - Thursday, December 15, 2022.
