Local - Young Fire Hero

Fire hero, Shenika Chornoby, is embraced by her grandmother, Peggy Spence, at the Legislative Building Thursday.  Spence lost one of her daughters two years ago and is so happy her granddaughter has recovered from the incident. 


Shenika Chornoby, 17, from Tataskweyak, is honoured Thursday by members of the Legislature for saving  several children from a burning apartment complex on a northern Manitoba First Nation on Feb. 11 She suffered breathing problems and burns to her body and was airlifted to Winnipeg's HSC Children's Hospital after the incident. She has since been released.
