Photo description:
MIKE DEAL / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS Sarah Anderson teaching Grade 10 students at Maples Collegiate during an English Language Arts (poetry unit) class Tuesday morning. Sarah Anderson's first year of teaching - what some of her former teachers call a miracle - is well underway at Maples Collegiate. The educator and advocate for people with disabilities has an impressive resume. She was diagnosed with a rare disease called dystonia at a young age and in order to complete high school, she had to teach herself to type with her toes. She has little functioning in her arms and navigates school in a wheelchair. See Maggie Macintosh story 231107 - Tuesday, November 07, 2023.
