Photo description:
The demolition of the long-abandoned Esso station at 402 Rosser Avenue finally kicked off on Tuesday afternoon. As of Wednesday morning, the gas pumps and the awning that went overtop of them had been removed. When a Sun reporter visited the scene around 9 a.m., a flatbed truck was pulling up to the property and an excavator remained on site from the previous day. At Monday's Brandon City Council meeting, Mayor Jeff Fawcett had hinted that the long standoff over cleaning up the site would shortly be coming to an end. Look for a story in Thursday's edition of the Sun. (Colin Slark/The Brandon Sun)
