Local - Food Bank Sugar shortage

Photo of Pastor Rod Giesbrecht in front of his church at Tabor Baptist Church in Transcona with one bag of sugar he was able to find after adventure. See story.

Pastor Rod Giesbrecht went to Grand Forks to buy and bring back hundreds of pounds of bagged sugar for the Transcona food bank and seniors but after purchasing it came back empty handed. Giesbrecht didn't want problems at the border so he phoned customs ahead of time to see if ok, which they granted. But when he got to the border he was told he couldn't bring the sugar into Canada and he had to dump it at one of the Pembina parcel service outlets … the sugar did end up at a food bank, but a Grand Fork’s one

Story by Kevin Rollason's story.
