Marieke Gruwel, the new executive director of the Winnipeg Architecture Foundation, has written a book about Manitoban women in fields like architecture, landscape design, interior design, engineering and planning, due for publication on March 8. 

Gruwel, 31, has been researching and writing about some of these women, including Elizabeth Lord, the first woman registered as an architect in Manitoba, for over a decade. She wrote her masters thesis in art history from Concordia University on two of the figures, Lord and Elizabeth Pilcher, who played a key role at GBR Architecture in the 1950s
