ENT - Address Unknown

Photos taken during the rehearsal of Address Unknown starring Amitai Kedar as Max Eisenstein (yellow shirt at typewriter) and Arne MacPherson as Martin Schulse (robe) at Berney Theatre Tuesday.

Arne MacPherson and Amitai Kedar are the two stars of the WJT production of Address Unknown, a staged version of a prescient anti-war novel set in pre-Nazi Germany, published by an American author in 1938 in the form of an epistolary. In the story, two men – one in Germany, one in America – have their personal and business relationship torn apart by the rising tides of anti-Semitism in Germany, where they started their art dealership during the Weimar era.

MacPherson, one of Winnipeg’s most accomplished stage actors, and Kedar, an Israeli actor who appeared in the Oscar-winning film Son of Saul, sit down with us to talk about the play, the dying artform of the letter, and the ways they connected with their characters.
