Story: The Salvation Army has added 80 beds to address the influx of newcomers seeking asylum in Winnipeg. The additional space has been added to relieve some of the pressure on the Salvation Army’s Centre of Hope emergency shelter, which houses over 400 people on an average night, of which, around 120 are refugees. The release says data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada shows 185 asylum seekers were processed in Manitoba in January 2024, compared to 35 in January 2023 See story by Chris April 17th, 2024
