MIKE DEAL / FREE PRESS Kelly Bekeris, Milliner, warms up her egg iron that is used to shape and smooth felt into hollow areas on a fedora. When Kelly Bekeris retired from teaching, she found herself with plenty of time on her hands. Already an accomplished seamstress, she started making mittens, from merino wool which she sourced from vintage jumpers. Deciding to challenge herself even further, the 72-year-old ventured into millinery. She’s yet-to-regret that decision and has made around 300 hats since she started in 2019.
