Local - Remote Observatory!

Photo of lead graduate student Ryan Wierckx outside the Glenlea Remote Observatory during Grand Opening Tuesday.

Story:
Grand opening of the University of Manitoba's Remote Observatory in the Glenlea area. The new observatory consists of an ASH dome and a PlaneWave CDK350 telescope.

For the first time at the University of Manitoba, both the dome and the telescope have the capability of being controlled remotely, meaning that students can observe from anywhere as long as they have an internet connection.

This new Observatory was built by Ryan Wierckx (lead) U of M graduate student with the assistance of Tyrone Woods (Assistant Professor) and staff.
