Photo of Fire Hydrant near #1 Hart Ave.

Story SEWAGE SPILL: the City of Winnipeg is on the hunt for the culpirt or culprits who vandalized two city fire hydrants in Glenelm, flooding the area and sparking a sewage spill. On Monday, the city reported 30,000 litres of raw sewage spilled into the Red River, blaming the “unauthorized operation of two fire hydrants” in the Glenelm neighbourhood at 3 a.m. Sunday. Coun. Ross Eadie said Tuesday it appeared to be vandalism, not someone stealing water. The city says water theft is rare — and one causing a sewage leak possibly unprecedented.
