Winnipeg Free Press News

Winnipeg Free Press Store
Essi Kruger (left) and Dorothy Bright organized a protest meeting on Monday to voice opposition to the RM of Prairie Lake's new policy which regulates the entry of boats onto Pelican Lake. Kruger said the regulation is going to impact her local business by driving away tourists. The program stands to charge tourists $40 for an inspection upon entry to Pelican Lake, and limit their access only to one boat launch out of Ninette, down the street from the gas service. The protesters agreed as a group that the main concern is that the local municipality has created a gate around their lake and feel they should have been given a vote about the new policy.
