Photo description:
Ruth Bonneville / Free Press INTERSECTION - The Keg Photo of an exterior shot showing the original HBC logo outside of the downtown restaurant on Garry street which opened in June 1975 in a former Hudson's Bay Livery stable. What: This is for an Intersection piece on the 50th anniversary of the Garry Street Keg. The downtown restaurant opened in June 1975 in a former Hudson's Bay Livery stable; Gord Howard, who owns the three Winnipeg Kegs, started working there a year later and has been with the company ever since. Scott Stephen, who worked as a server is the director of operations for the Winnipeg Kegs. The Garry Street is known as the "mothership." (It was the seventh Keg to open in the country, after the flagship one opened in Vancouver in '71; it's presently the third-longest running Keg in the country.) See story by Dave. May 21st, 2025
