Nolan Long, 14, gives his pigs a visit on his family's farm in Spruce Woods. The Long family works on living sustainably, with hens, pigs, goats and a vegetable garden on the property. David Long, Nolan's father, told the Sun they moved to Spruce Woods precisely for that reason. With dozens of chickens on the property, the family now runs a "Rent a Hen" business out of their home, where they deliver two of their hens and a coop for the summer season to families in the Westman area. When the Sun visited the property in April, the Long family was chicken-sitting two roosters while their neighbour was out of town. (Connor McDowell/Brandon Sun)
