Photo description:
David Pedersen, a pilot who advocates for airports in the southern prairies, stands at the International Peace Gardens Airport on the border with the United States. While the United States performs work on its side of the airport, Pedersen wants the province to strike a deal to expand the Canadian side into surrounding grass and bush area. Without investment, the Canadian side will be decommissioned in eight to 15 years. The Canadian parking pad is seen below Pedersen's feet, and is the only infrastructure at the airport on the Canadian side of the border. The yellow paint and red sign depict the border line with America. (Connor McDowell/Brandon Sun)
