Ken Klassen from Red River College, explains the function and reasons why the Solar Trough test site was developed. Red River College, Manitoba Hydro and the University of Manitoba have partnered together to develop a Solar Trough test site. The Solar Trough concentrates the suns energy to heat a fluid-filled tube. The test site can provide heat for up to 10 homes during the winter and it can produce enough energy to power 5000 LED light bulbs.
