The woman found at the Manwin Hotel without a name is now carrying the same name as Ashlee, which is Mashkode Bizhiki’ikwe. Giganawenimaanaanig, together with the Winnipeg Police Service, provide important updates and call on the community’s help to identify an Indigenous woman found in August 2024, at press conference held at The Gathering Place for Truth and Reconciliation Thursday. For a year, she has been without her name and separated from her family. With the help of the media coverage providing this new information of her identity, the community hopes to bring her home and honour her life with the dignity and care she is owed.
