image credit: Brandon Police Service Escape from Brandon Correctional Centre At approximately 9:45 PM September 30th, 2011 Police were notified by Brandon Correctional Centre staff that two inmates had escaped from the jail. The two males reportedly escaped from a fenced outside exercise area. Police were able to locate and arrest one of the escaped males at approximately 12:30 AM this morning, in the area of the 1600 block of Stickney Ave. At this time Police are still looking for the second male from the escape, who is identified as Robert Patrick Ray MORAND (22 yrs of age). MORAND is described as aboriginal in appearance, approximately 188 cm (6' 2"), 71 kg (157 lbs) with short black hair and brown eyes (pictured below). At the time of the escape he was wearing grey Correctional pants and a t-shirt and was believed to be bare foot.. Morand was currently being held in remand awaiting a court appearance on the charge of second degree murder. A warrant for his arrest is being obtained and Police ask that anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of MORAND contact their local Police as soon as possible.
