MIKE DEAL / FREE PRESS Leader of the Opposition, Obby Khan, traded barbs with Premier Wab Kinew, during question period Wednesday afternoon after the office of the ethics commissioner tabled an ethics investigation report. An ethics investigation into allegations that the former Manitoba Tory government tried to get a controversial mining project approved after losing the 2023 election has found that former premier Heather Stefanson and two of her MLAs violated the conflict of interest act and recommended thousands of dollars in fines. The office of the ethics commissioner tabled the report in the legislature. It says they tried to “improperly advance” the interests of private business. Stefanson has been fined $18K (apparently a first). Premier Wab Kinew called it a "dark day." Reporters: Carol Sanders 250521 - Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
