Ruth Bonneville / Free Press LOCAL - HBC collection/ charter Amelia Fay, curator of the HBC Museum Collection, answers questions from a reporter while inside a reproduction of HBC’s head office in London England with the the portrait of Prince Rupert on the wall. Many of the wood finishes are the actual finishes from that head office in England that were transported to the Manitoba Museum to be displayed when the original Hudson Bay Company exhibit was created at the Manitoba Museum in 1994. This is also the same area that the original Charter was displayed in 2020 for HBC’s 350 year annivesary because of the juxtaposition of the portrait of Prince Rupert with whom Rupert’s land was named after. Photos to go with Tyler’s interview Amelia Fay, curator of the HBC Museum Collection, about the sale of the HBC charter. HUDSON’S BAY LOCAL: This is for a separate local story that can run alongside a CP story on how two of Canada’s wealthiest families have cleared the final hurdle on the road to buying and donating the royal charter that created the Hudson’s Bay Co.
