Photo description:
Soldiers with the 1st Battalion, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery remove a wooden structure called a shoring from the back of a C-130 aircraft at the Brandon Municipal Airport on Friday morning, as temperatures fell to -33 C. The soldiers were working to load and unload a pair of M777 Howitzers from the back of the aircraft as part of Operation Nanoook, an Arctic defence operation that has been months in the planning. The shoring helps stabilize the weapons so that neither they nor the aircraft are damaged in flight. (Matt Goerzen/The Brandon Sun)
