Bill Turner and Allan Campbell are fire captains at the on-site fire hall. The team has 80 members, and roughly 10 captains, and is part of a mutual aid group for calls in the area regarding chemical fires. The team rarely has to respond to fires, the most recent going back to 2023 in the case of a grass fire beside a rail line, Turner said. The fire hall at Koch Fertilizer is part of a precaution against fire risks inherent in fertilizer production. The plant has its own hydrant system and water supply to service its fire fighting needs. (Connor McDowell/The Brandon Sun)
