Ben, a machinist, is at the maintenance shop at the Koch Fertilizer plant in February repairing equipment that is used to speed the flow of liquid in pipes. The on-site shop is regularly used for equipment repairs. Maintenance manager Steven Brown said that most repairs are preventative. Remote sensors and inspections can determine the need for treatment and the shop employs 35 red seal trades persons such as pipe fitters, welders millwrights, and instrumentation and electrical trades workers to carry out this regular work.
