Bill Turner, a fire captain at the on-site fire station at the Koch Fertilizer plant. Turner has served for 37 years, and was responsible for finding the new fire truck, which was named “The Bill Turner” after him. Turner said that there are rarely fires that need responses, with the last he recalls being in 2023, for a grass fire within the fire station’s mutual aid group area beside a rail line. The plant has its own hydrant system to service fire fighting responses, as well as a crew of 80 firefighters led by 10 captains, all staff at the plant, Turner said. Koch Fertilizer recently installed a new pump house to serve these firefighting efforts. (Connor McDowell/The Brandon Sun)
