Virden Town Council decided to buy a property containing a thrift store on Nelson Street East in Virden. The thrift store had several signs posted in March that it is closed effective immediately. Mayor Tina Williams said the property was purchased to secure it in case of future expansion or development of the town’s water treatment plant, which is directly behind the thrift store.
