Photo description:
Computer-generated sculpture of a wrapped mumm, "Annie". Cast polyurethane. This is the first life-sized, computer-gernerated image of an Egyptian mummy produced. It is the result of a 2009 collaboration between the Akhmin Mummy Studies Consortium and the Bioanthropology and Digital Analysis Laboratory at the U of M, Winnipeg, Canada. The mummy is that of a young, post-adolescent female who died around 220 BC and was buried at Akhmim. Manitoba Museum opens new exhibit - Wrapped The Mummy of Pesed in Alloway Hall, a temporary exhibit about the mummification process, ancient Egyptian society or about hieroglyphs.
