Brandonite Jeff Ross, a member of the Brandon Regional Search and Rescue Association, jogs along Braecrest Drive in Brandon on Monday, while challenging himself to complete a legion march, also known as the gritty soldier march. The idea behind the challenge is to complete a 29.6-kilometre march or jog (based on 20 Roman miles) with a 45-pound pack in under six hours. The virtual event is inspired by the historical training and marching requirements of Roman legionaries and is designed to test mental and physical endurance. Ross completed the march in five hours and 53 minutes. (Tim Smith/The Brandon Sun)
