Photo description:
There was no lack of excitement when the Brandon Regals beat the Winnipeg Warriors 5-1 at the Wheat City Arena on Jan. 7, 1956 to snap Winnipeg's six-game winning streak. In the photo on the left, referees Blair Peters and in the middle, Andy Gurba, break up Winnipeg's Danny Summers and Brandon's Murray Wilkie (19) after a fight in which Summers got cut. In the photo on the right, Brandon goalie Lucien Dechene makes a save on Winnipeg's Paul Manick (10) as Brandon's Aggie Kukulowicz tries to disrupt the play from behind. (Brandon Sun files)
