29092026 Provincial archeologist Suyoko Tsukamo and regional archeologist for Westman with the province Ashley Daciuk conduct a baseline survey of the former Turtle Crossing Campground along Grand Valley Road on Tuesday, to catalogue all infrastructure markings and other disturbances to the property, ahead of plans for the Brandon Residential School Missing Children Investigation to search the grounds. The province announced Tuesday that they had purchased the former campground in partnership with the City of Brandon. The property has long been known to hold the graves of children who attended the nearby Brandon Residential School. The Brandon Residential School opened in 1895 and closed in 1972.
