Wages were eventually paid.  MTS President Paul Olson and affected teachers from Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation.What: The Manitoba Teachers’ Society is asking the Regional Director General of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) to appoint a Third-Party Manager to remedy a long-standing and persistent default by the Sandy Bay First Nation to pay teachers’ salaries, and pay and remit various insurance premiums and pension contributions. The Manitoba Teachers’ Society asks for Third-Party Management of Sandy Bay First Nation effect on teachers and the community. Recently retired teachers cannot access their pensions, current teachers have missed mortgage and loan payments, and teachers facing illness cannot access health or disability income  benefits.Conditions at the 1,000 student Isaac Beaulieu School are deplorable: fire alarms do not function, bathrooms go without toilet paper, school buses transport more children than is legal, FEB. 4 2014 / KEN GIGLIOTTI / WINNIPEG FREE PRESS
