Whitey Macdonald, 73, is dying of cancer in Winnipeg and his children are trying to figure out a way for him to be able to spend his last days with his wife in the United States. Macdonald pleaded guilty last year to being the ringleader of an international marijuana-smuggling operation that was busted in 1980. He escaped custody and was on the run for 30 years before police in Florida found him living with his wife under a different name.
