11 Students graduate Inner-City Youth Overcome Barriers to Graduate Certificate Program . for story .Eleven Young Adults to be Recognized at Youth Recreation Activity Worker Celebration June 4, 2014 (Winnipeg, MB) Äì On Thursday, June 5, 2014 the Youth Recreation Activity Worker Program will celebrate the successful graduation of 11 inner-city youth and formally recognize them for their dedication and desire to make positive changes in their lives and in the lives of others.For these youth, getting an education meant the start of breaking free from their struggles with poverty, violence and gangs. During the graduation ceremony, each student will present heart-felt speeches on the impact of the program and be awarded certificates of completion .A joint venture of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg and Red River College, the Youth Recreation Activity Worker Program trains young adults facing barriers to obtaining their post-secondary education to be leaders in the recreation field. Through the full-time nine month program, students gain the working knowledge to provide healthy development programs to youth and become role models in their own communities.
