Photo description:
Max, a great-horned owl, was rescued by Manitoba's Wildlife Haven and Rehabilitation Centre. He lost the majority of his hearing due to parasites, and since great-horned owls rely on their hearing to hunt in the wild, he now lives at the Wildlife Haven and acts as ambassador in the education program. A new long-term community land lease from TransCanada will give 18 acres of space near Station 41 in Ile-des-Chenes to the Wildlife Haven, where Vice-President Judy Robertson hopes to build a permanent home to rehabilitate a larger number of rescued wildlife. 140606 - Friday, June 06, 2014 - (Melissa Tait / Winnipeg Free Press)
