Smiles are in the present , they are subtle , sincere , grateful or intense but the joy they project is overwhelmingly contagious and uncomplicated . Joy expressed by the universally recognized smile is a sign of friendship ,love, accomplishment , doing your best , being the best , joy for joy's sake, and the joy of togetherness . A hardy welcome to the Folk Festival was given to visitors arriving at the camp ground by volunteers LtoR Jeanne Harrison and Denise de Decker. The day began with the drive or bike ride to the park , hundreds of participants rod their bikes to the Birds Hill Park to get priority entry to the event .
