LOCAL (in photo) Ed Macyk, 76, is a cancer survivor who volunteers to driver cancer patients to their appointments.While on “duty” last May , and in a hurry to get his passengers to their appointment on time in morning rush-hour traffic, Ed was ticketed near St. Boniface Hospital for driving in a diamond lane. To his surprise, a month later Sgt. Kevin Smith (not in photo) presented Ed with $402 – the amount collected from officers in district 3.In return, Ed turned the money over to the CancerCare program he drives for and sent the officers in district 3 a floral arrangement by way of saying thanks for the gesture.
